Server Status Scanners

Hi Everyone

In order to combat servers load
I've implemented a Port Sniffer - to be able to track ALL status requests on Sam servers



42Amsterdam has over 95 servers ....so when scanning it too frequently (all of coz is done over UDP connection)
this can introduce most famous BAD SYNCS into the game

Scanning is in no way prohibited (this happens every time you press "refresh" on game screen)
But doing it every 5 sec for hours and hours - that's an overkill !!!

I've no idea why someone would actually use a scanner - there are already web based tools (42Adam site it self for example)
that will display all required information

Anyway - for now I'll be manually monitoring the tool ...and eventually BAN anyone who will misuse scanning software
Later - it will be made automatic

So please do NOT do it - not only you'll get your IP banned - you are making game suck even more than it is already coz of poorly implemented networking.

If you still need fresh data from active servers - set your scanning frequency to 60+ seconds (at least !!!)
In case you need even more fresh data - contact me and I can arrange an API access. (single call ...not 95 ..

Guys let me make it all clear to everyone

Any IP caught in scanning server states - will be banned ...
screw you ...and use the api ...

As already noted - constantly scanning servers is not welcome

There is an API ...and it was not made just for fun ...use it instead initiating dozens of connections for little bits
You'll get more info in one request than if you do 100+ requests yours self

From now on - casual scanners will still be banned between 120 and 720 min (depending on request rate)
any IP with prolonged history - permanent ban.

Hey Ostap, is this valid also when using [Rocketers] Alex tool? Not that I scan often, I use it once per day. However I see servers at first hit and have no problem.
