Two years since the launch of the master server

today exactly 2 years since the launch of the master server



25 Jul 2014 GameSpy finally was off and many games were left without multiplayer.

This is the most helpful thing which ever happened in Sam community, at least in 2010s

And some personal note on 2 years anniversary of Master Server...

First of all - were are still here



Yes we've lost about 60% of players.... none of any of our efforts could bring those players back ...
Posting game ping to multiple game trackers gave little to none of results...Not even when steam released an update with fixed master server location - there were a short spike ...aaaaaand it gone...

So ...I guess what we have now - is how its gonna stay ....minor spikes on some events ...and then back to "normal" ...
Well ...game is of coz old ...and all players are growing up ...eventually ....some would switch to other games ....some would comeback ...
Serious Sam now ...is like Unreal 12 years ago.... (low on players but still running ...and people do play it...no mater what..)

Old or not ...the game is great !! ..
i also would like to say thank you to Alex [Rocketeers] who made it all possible

I still remember first days after gamespy closedown... Servers was empty.. But day after day players were coming back and activity on servers was near same as it was in gamespy glory. In some moments it was very active.. like these 2 coop screens:


Also frag activity was near same as coop:


Its very awesome, that game was active that much even after gamespy closedown...

Now i must admit that activity is pretty low.. But its okay.. Better than empty servers.. We must have hope, that one day, there will be boom and sam will be active that much, like it was before..

And again we must say thanks to [R]Alex to his programming skills...
