GameSpy is shutting down !!!

Bad news everybody !!!

This would mean that there will be no server listing in game ...
When exactly that will happen is yet unknown ...but i guess it be soon.
Lots of games will go down because of it ... CS, Unreal , Unreal tournament , as well Sam servers ...

My servers will still be active - but connection to the them will be possible only manually .... host:port ...

It seems that they were shutting it down since dec 12 last year....
and last announcement published on 21st February this year - probably the final.

i have kinda understood reading some comment, that new company which bought GS will keep the servelist of old games online, indeed this announcement was made months ago (around beginning of December), and they still didnt shut down anything; this must mean something, let's wait

Its all unclear ...though there are some indications that master server wont be shut down...
GameSpy site is down ... there are some "so long and thanx for for all the fish" posts on it...





If this is the case - than i'm sorry for crying wolf ...
But then i hope everyone would understand it - after the announcement that gamespy goes down - first what came in mind is
"and what about us ?" ..

After digging the internet - it seems that master servers belong to the different company. But again - info was found on some forum ...http://forums.gearboxsoftware.com/sh....php?p=3750083

The master servers aren't actually run by IGN/Gamespy anymore. That part of Gamespy was sold off to another company. That's why there was news of several games shutting down a few months ago. The new company increased fees and the developers didn't want to pay them.

just visited same link now - and those posts were removed....so go figure ...
At this moment - it is still unknown ... but server listing is still there - so i guess we still have a helping angel somewhere that keeps the master servers up.
