if you have 8 participants:
group a: (4 players) and group b (4 players)
Each player plays 3 games in it's group.
Best 2 of the group will advance to semi-finals. (a.1 vs b.2 and b.1 vs a.2)

So thats possible

But I agree that 16 is a nice (the best) number! (if you get that many active)

Btw, I should've mentioned this; only those that want/will participate can vote for the map choice
+ I thought the map choice would be very clear from the beginning; but since the voting almost divides the people that will play 50/50 we'll have to wait for the 16th player to decide, if that ever happens

It will start then , this evening i'll make a tournament grid with 12 players (which means 4 players will have to play one less round because you can't do it any other way...)

It is also possible to form two distinct groups eg.: (I, II, III, IV, V & VI)(VII, VIII, IX, X, XI, XII)
Players from the first group will have to fight against eachother one time each (the same for second group ofcourse)
Then the first 4 players will advance from each group so to fight a normal 8 player tournament.
This method will ofcourse take much more time then a normal single elimination tournament but it ensures a fair tournament. [Suggestions are welcome!]
