    Modican Kurt (Alpha)

    Hi there,

    After a little research, I finally found a way for editing skins color only, without affect the original design.

    Thanks to Zdzichu, who opened this thread, and thanks to Way and AntraX, who gave him the solution, I decided to edit the color of Kleer Kurt skin.

    I wanted to change its color into Modican bovine mantle, that is considered as a 'red' mantle.

    After a conversion with TexConverter, and using color curves from Paint.net, I made it.

    I converted the skin thumbnail, too. But it looks more red than the skin itself.

    And this is a thumbnail copy more green and less red:

    But I decided to also keep the original Kurt, so this new one will be additional.

    I obtain two results: the first one was too red; so, for the second one I decreased the red and increased the green a bit. But I still think I'm far from perfection. In the screenshot below, you can see a graphical glitch when spawning or respawning.

    That's why this is stll an alpha skin.

    This is how it looks under the light. It seems a bit darker than the bovine mantle, but my objective is to reach its color.

    I reduced the resolution, because of my connection that doesn't allow me to upload over 1MB images.



    PS: the modican bovine race is from Modica, in Sicily. But, in Sardinia, we have them, too. It was about 19th century, some people brought a number of modican bulls here and hybrized them with sardinian cows. But there are not so many differences between modican and modican-sardinian hybrid, although they are considered 2 different races. Also, this race has some changeability in the mantle color (some black in some cows, and some other ones who don't have it).

    Eh, ieri la connessione mi ha stressato parecchio, perch? non riuscivo a caricare le immagini come PNG e poi ho cliccato sul caricamento delle immagini (anzich? su "Gestione Allegati"). Probabilmente, erano "salvati" solo temporaneamente i links (infatti, ieri, me li dava), ma dopo un'ora sono stati cancellati (in "Gestione Allegati" c'? scritto "Gli allegati non utilizzati entro un'ora verranno cancellati").
    Per gli screenshots, ho dovuto convertire in JPG e ridurre da 1024x768 a 640x680.

    Adesso ho utilizzato il caricatore di base e me li ha caricati tutti. Per adesso, si vedono. Stasera torner? a dare un'altra occhiata.

    Comunque, bentornato. Come avrai notato, qui ci giocano sempre i soliti nerd (sia forti che scarsi). Di italiani 'nuovi', quest'anno c'? Killandy e gli altri (falco, Wave, Fede God's Hand, KlesK, etc...) si vedono una volta tanto nei servers. KlesK sta partecipando ad un torneo, organizzato da Titus Pullo e Skyward Metaliman, su Shotty Trouble.

    I update this post for a glitch I noticed only recently.

    Skin is still alpha and I won't upload it until it is ready.

    Well, if you look at these screens you will notice that sniper position is reversed. I checked the original Kleer Kurt skin and this doesn't happen.

    I think I now have to find a skin editor since I really don't understand how SeriousSKA Studio* works.

    Also, skin will be edited in order to look more like a modican bull, I thought about it and I can't upload a normal Kleer with a different color....

    And, I was wrong last time: also original Kleer Kurt has the same glitch with these weapons (WTF???), too.

    Update.

    In june I read a bit carefully Modeler help topics and I found a solution for weapons position adjusting.

    Basically you have to rotate mouse while you are pressing 1, 2, or 3.

    I also found out that the weapon properties for Flamer in Serious Modeler are also applied for Sniper Rifle, too. I tried to create separate properties for Sniper (and to delete Flamer ones), but the result was the same as leaving only "FLAMER" (as it is called on SM). I think it is due to the fact that these weapons are set to the same slot.

    So, I gave a little fix to weapons position, but the handle still doesn't fit perfectly, especially for Flamer:

    Whereas, from third person view, weapons positions look closer to the right ones from other models. Sniper has now a position similar to Double Shotgun and Flamer looks titled upward a bit like the glitchy position of Single Shotgun in Kleer Kurt (I don't have screen, yet; but if you have skin, you'll notice that):

    Now becomes the most funny part: finding a tex skin editor (like those mentioned on the Modeler help topics) to make skin a bit different from original Kleer Kurt!



    EDIT: In addition, I solved the glitch which made skin legs invisible at invulnerability spawn and when collecting Invisibility powerup.

    I mounted the edited "Body" onto the original Kurt "Player" but I didn't attach a part to each other.
    Then I replaced the skin texture and attached Head, Body and Player as it was written on the tutorial.

    I now see a totally "modican" Kurt when opening Modeler, instead of a "modican" head and body with grey legs like it was before; and skin correctly shows legs when it is under spawn invulnerability or collects Invisibility.

    just a question ...
    why are you adding images as attachment ?
    those are not visible until you click them

    there is a "Insert image" button ..

    I already use it, and images are automatically added under the tag "ATTACHMENT" after I upload them.

    I think it is a problem of session (I don't use "Remember Me", in order to avoid password savings etc..), since it takes me over 10 minutes to write longer posts. Before reloading the page ("Restore saved content" usually saves only half post) I copy everything ("Select All") and I refresh. After logging in again I paste the copied post. Maybe that's the reason of attachments not showing.

    Sometimes I must edit the post and reupload them again, in fact...
