When exactly that will happen is yet unknown ...but i guess it be soon.
Lots of games will go down because of it ... CS, Unreal , Unreal tournament , as well Sam servers ...

My servers will still be active - but connection to the them will be possible only manually .... host:port ...

Damn, this is actually really bad for Unreal Tournament.. GameSpy was the only master server left running for a while now, but now it's going away too. If only Epic could host their server again, but of course no, they are only in it for money. At least in Sam there's Revolution coming soon.

:) Остап еще не запустил мастер сервер ).

Надо патчить когда он запустит его. Он где-то отдыхает, когда появиться в скайпе - мы протестим, а пока рано патчить.

И да - тока Engine.dll, Engine.dll.bak - сохраненная копия после патча.
И можно снова выбрать master.gamespy.com - пока он работает.

For the mods that have engine.dll - need a separate patch, change the line(string) master.gamespy.com on sam.ostap.nl
This is easy.

Тут я напишу по русски.

Будет 3 группы серверов:
1-я основная - адамовские (берутся из базы mysql).
2-я основная - постоянные не адамовские сервера, имеющие статический ip (тоже берутся из базы mysql, на странице администраторов можно сделать добавление(редактирование) в эту таблицу серверов, для superuser к примеру).
3-я пользовательская - формируется динамически при запуске любым игроком своего сервера
(записывается в лист серверов на основе Heartbeat).

Листинг серверов будет формироваться на основе этих 3 групп.

так что мастер сервер на амстердаме - ничем не будет отличаться от gamespy по функционалу.

первые две группы уже реализованы - сейчас работаю над третьей.

Even though this has nothing to do with gamespy it is important. Heartbleed is a virus for computer that is hacking into accounts and credit cards so if you have a yahoo, Skype, Twitter, any email and even 42amsterdam account so bassicly everything that has a password should be changed. that patch will be close to useless. Only if you have enough contacts you can organise a game in classic. The players that are not part of the community will probably do nothing, since they will even with patch see that servers are more and more empty.

Serious Sam Revolution can in fact gain more players, but its too bad that it costs money (understandable, but this will keep some regulars and im sure new players from playing)

I played this game ever since I came out of my egg and I have had some fun memories, but I assume all things come to an end and I think in two weeks there won't be any players left in classic. So I think its sad and I will install the patch. But it really seems to be as useless as grabbing a spoon and try to prevent the titanic from sinking. So other than to promote the patch, I would rather see some promotion for Sam Revolution. That would at least give you a bucket instead of a spoon.

Yes, the serverlist in REV is almost completely empty, the autodownloader... just doesn't work 99% of the time...
But I think that ( & all the other bugs) will radically change when it goes from Early Access to a normal finished game
[but that will take a while to happen].
So we should focus now on this patch for classic sam and if the players joining our 42 A'dam servers did not see the ping message, the name of the servers, the countless warnings on this site etc. then I'm afraid they can never be helped and they will be sorely missed.

Naturally, that's my opinion (& I hope it not be much far from the truth).

Someone said it on a Gamespy-topic @ Oldunreal Forums. I dont know the person himself + he was the only one i heard saying it. Thing is, normally
i wouldn't believe it, but it makes sense, postpone it for another month. But something tells me they will not shut down for a long time to come, but then again, i do not know for sure. But for now, lets just be thankful we can still play, because someday it WILL BE taken down.

"Battlefield 1942" works on the same Protocol as "Sam Classic" and works on the same ports.(master server)
Perhaps because of this, "Sam Classic" still works.

Most likely - the Doomsday is postponed, thanks to "EA"

Gamespy is obviously still up and running, as i actually expected. I think they are or,
1.messing with us, which seems very unlikely, there is no motive.
2. It's going to be postponed AGAIN.
3. It's just not going down for a long while to come, which i personally think is it.
Why they announced they would? I think maybe they WERE to shut it down but realised they still gave a very good run.

you can find tse servers using SSTSE Server Monitor (https://42amsterdam.net/samforum/downloads.php?do=file&id=169) with alternative servers inside

I think there is just some problems with serious sam itself since other programs, like (In my case Xfire) or Qtracker still list the servers, meaning, the master server is still up.

EDIT: I also play Unreal online, and Unreal still shows the servers in the game himself. So that's proof the master server is not down yet ;)

Possible!But may be Gamespy ,stopping online support by Sam only?
Anyway,during Gamespy working before, I did saw some servers in list. Was nessesary to find port to same server,and then join there. :)

Also that is a clever way to still play online for Serious sam. Just use the 'Specify Server' option ;) And i strongly doubt gamespy is shutting it down for Serious sam Only. Since there are other games who use Gamespy that have way less people still playing it, if that is the reason gamespy is shutting down its services for a specific game.

Yea,in many cases I select server,from site.So I use IP adress and port,if server are "invisible" in list from game menu.Here question is how to help to newbies, and make server list ,"visible".All players,and newbies,and experience players are part of this comunnity.

I'm a Serious Sam Player Named Serious Sam <CHN> from China - Beijing.This morning opening the TFE as usual,I found that no list showed then I guessed maybe Gamespy had been already shut down.So I downloaded the Sam Master Server Patcher v3.

First you should Extract the file to anywhere you want.

No, as Alex said, it's a bug in his program where it's not automatically selected even though it looks like it is - you have to select something else and then click back on .eu for it to actually be selected. Then write.

Your english wasn't perfect. But who cares? Point is that you made a small usefull video tutorial just to help people play online again with their Classic Serious Sam friends. Even if your english was horrible, people still shouldn't complain, you made this tool and they didn't. Btw Alex' masterserver patcher doesn't work for my 1.05 version. Only the LD_patcher does. But it shouldn't matter, I guess.

Sure I did. As I said it worked for Sam FE and Sam SE 1.07. Only 1.05 doesn't work.
