Downloads: Master Server Patch (v5)

If you haven't heard, GameSpy's Master Servers will be shut down permanently on May 31st, 2014.

FYI: The Master Server collects information about currently active game servers and sends your game browser a list of these servers so that you can choose one to play on. This is what allows players to find each other and play together.

After May 31st you will no longer be able to find any servers to play on through GameSpy (the in-game server browser). However, thanks to enterprising individuals in the Serious Sam community, there is now an alternative Master Server you can use.

[Rocketers] Alex has created his own Master Server software that emulates the same features of the original GameSpy server. 42amsterdam will host the master server for all to use it.

Now comes the fun part. To access the new Master Server you will need to patch the Engine.dll file in your game. Fortunately, [Rocketers] Alex and Louva-Deus, from SeriousZone.com, have created two ways to patch that file.

This distribution has 3 different options how you can patch your game:

1- Pre-patched DLL files (also available as more simplified version (dll's only) .... you can download it here )

Compatible with:
* Serious Sam The First Encounter v1.05
* Serious Sam The Second Encounter v1.05
* Serious Sam The Second Encounter v1.07
* Serious Sam 2 (v2.070)

How to use:

Simply copy the Engine.dll (for FE /SE)

OR

OnlineGS.dll (for SS2)

into your /bin directory of Serious Sam game.


2- Serious Sam Classic Patcher/Launcher by [Rocketers] Alex

Compatible with:
* Serious Sam The First Encounter v1.05
* Serious Sam The Second Encounter v1.05
* Serious Sam The Second Encounter v1.07
* Serious Sam 2

This launcher requires you to locate your existing installations of The First Encounter and The Second Encounter to work (easy!) and then select the new Master Server (gs.ostap.eu) and patch the Engine.dll file with that server address.


How to use:

1. Launch "Serious Sam Classic Launcher.exe" or "Serious Sam2 Patcher" (allow the process if UAC pops up)
2. Locate your game folders by clicking on the appropriate "Choose" button and browse to those locations on your computer
3. Choose the gs.ostap.eu Master Server from the dropdown list
4. Click on the "Write" button
5. Done!

3- GameSpy Master-Server Patcher by Louva-Deus

Compatible with:
* Serious Sam The First Encounter (All Versions)
* Serious Sam The Second Encounter (All Versions)
* Serious Sam 2 (All Versions)


This patcher requires you to extract it to the Bin folder in every copy of the game you want to update and then run a batch file that will patch the Engine.dll with the new Master Server (gs.ostap.eu). It also allows you to remove the patch with a separate batch file.


How to use:

1. Extract the contents of the SeriousSamClassic_GameSpy_Patcher.zip file into the Bin folder of your Serious Sam game (works on all versions of TFE and TSE)
2. Run LD_Bypass_Gamespy.bat
3. Done!

How to remove changes:

1. Run LD_Restore_Gamespy.bat
2. Done!
